Pioneering New Research Frontiers

Congratulations Drs. Sue Sheridan, Todd Glover, and James Bovaird

Drs. Sheridan, Glover and Bovaird have received a 4-year grant from IES entitled Postdoctoral Fellowship for Research on Consultation-Based Interventions for Students with Social and Behavioral Concerns.

There remains a pressing and immediate need to train researchers to conduct rigorous experimental investigations of consultation-based, social-emotional interventions designed to ameliorate problems that interfere with student learning (as in elementary programs) and/or development (as in early childhood programs). This postdoctoral fellowship has been designed to help produce researchers with an expertise in conceptually- and methodologically-sound investigations of the efficacy and effectiveness of school-based consultation interventions designed to promote positive student outcomes. Through systematic and intensive methodological training, the fellowship will provide a means for improving the quality of consultation-based intervention research with causal implications. As a result of their experience, participating postdoctoral fellows will acquire the skills and knowledge required for a strong research career and for advancing rigorous applied research on practices designed to improve students’ social, behavioral, and academic outcomes.

This postdoctoral fellowship grant will provide support for 2 cohorts (Cohort 1: 2008-2010; Cohort 2: 2010-2012) of 2 postdoctoral fellows (for a total of 4 fellows). The complete position description can be found here
