Biography
Kathy Bosch joined the University of Nebraska faculty as a Family Life Specialist and Assistant Professor in Family and Consumer Sciences in 2001. She is housed at the Panhandle Research and Extension Center.
Dr. Bosch has served in the areas of Family and Consumer Sciences, 4-H Youth Development and Economic Development with Kansas State University Cooperative Extension Service. Her teaching and research have focused on partner abuse prevention and early intervention, human sexuality education, parenting issues, basic life skills, aging and adult development, family nutrition and health. Dr. Bosch earned her doctorate in Family Life Education and Consultation, Family Studies and Human Services; Kansas State University, in 2000.
Dr. Bosch's duties include interacting with and providing family life science expertise to extension educators, social service agencies, schools, community action agencies, adult basic education programs and family preservation teams. A program emphasis is on "Building Strong Families" and targets statewide audiences. She is conducting research with low-income mothers in the Panhandle on barriers to obtaining and maintaining employment. She is also studying rural farm and ranch families who face economic hardship. Dr. Bosch teaches and works with interpersonal relationships, marriage, divorce preparation and recovery, prevention of domestic violence, and parenting issues.
