Biography

Dr. Bovaird is an Assistant Professor of Educational Psychology in the Quantitative, Qualitative, and Psychometric Methods in Education program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He has significant statistical consulting experience, especially with designs requiring hierarchical, multilevel, and structural equation modeling. He recently completed a major analysis project for the Kansas State Department of Education involving a multilevel structural model of statewide kindergarten readiness. Prior to his current appointment at UNL, Dr. Bovaird spent three years as a research associate with the Schiefelbusch Institute for Life Span Studies at the University of Kansas providing extensive statistical planning and analysis services for affiliated researcher, and he taught numerous graduate-level statistics courses in the quantitative psychology program.

Dr. Bovaird's research interests focus on methodological applications and innovations in the use of advanced multivariate techniques in the social sciences, especially in education and psychology. He has authored several methodological applications and innovations in the use of advanced multivariate techniques in the social sciences, especially in education and psychology. He has authored several methodological book chapters, edited a compilation on longitudinal methods in the presence of contextual effects, and has authored several methodological articles currently under review in major quantitative and substantive journals, including an article on the proper specification of the mixed model in randomized clinical trials research.
