Biography
Mark DeKraai is with the University of Nebraska Public Policy Center where he directs the NEBHANDS projects, a statewide effort to develop an integrated behavioral health system of care that incorporates faith-based and community organizations. Prior to joining the University of Nebraska, he spent 18 years developing and evaluating state policies and programs in the areas of mental health, substance abuse, developmental disabilities, child welfare and juvenile justice. As Child and Family Mental Health Administrator for the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, he was involved in developing and evaluating the Professional Partner Program, a statewide effort to provide a wraparound approach for children with serious emotional disorders and their families. He served as Principle Investigator for two SAMHSA grants to develop comprehensive children's mental health systems of care, administered funding for the development of family-operated support organizations in the six mental health regions, and assisted in the development of a wraparound approach for children in Nebraska's welfare/juvenile justice system.
Current projects include an evaluation of Panhandle Partnership under a Healthy Community Access Program Grant, administration of the Governor's Early Childhood System of Care Project in central Nebraska, evaluation of two Health Information Technology grants, evaluation of the Northeast Nebraska Drug Court project, and project management for Nebraska's Children's Mental Health State Infrastructure grant.
