Biography

David J. Hansen is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Psychology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL). His primary research area is child maltreatment (sexual abuse, physical abuse, and neglect), including factors related to identification and reporting, assessment and intervention with victims and families, and the correlates and consequences of maltreatment. An additional area of research is social-skills assessment and intervention with children and adolescents. His research emphasizes procedures for enhancing the effectiveness of clinical interventions, through assessing and improving adherence, generalization, maintenance, and social validity.

Dr. Hansen is the Associate Editor for the Research and Practice Link for the Behavior Therapist, and Senior Editor of Education and Treatment of Children. He is also currently on the Editorial Boards of Journal of Family Violence, Aggression and Violent Behavior, Cognitive and Behavioral Practice, and Clinical Case Studies. As part of the UNL Psychological Consultation Center, Dr. Hansen is the Co-Director of the Family Interaction Skills Clinic and Director of Project SAFE, a clinical treatment program for sexually abused children and their families.
