Biography

Dr. Jody Koenig Kellas is an Assistant Professor of Communication Studies at UNL. She received her doctorate and Masters degree from the University of Washington.

Dr. Koenig Kellas conducts research on narratives and storytelling in family and relational communication contexts. With an interest in the ways in which people communicatively make sense of their relationships, her research has explored post-dissolutional communication, facework, attributions in marital relationships, as well as the processes, identity negotiation, and relational qualities associated with individual and collaborative storytelling in families. Recent publications examine how various facets of narrative and post-dissolutional communication relate to family functioning, relational satisfaction, individual adjustment, and the construction of identity. In the last two years, her research has received Top Paper Awards from interest groups in the National Communication Association and the Western States Communication Association.
