Abstract

This study is designed to develop a detailed literacy profile that identifies strengths and weaknesses in reading and writing skills in students ages 13 to 21 with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), and to investigate the moderating effects of cognitive abilities on these skills.

A detailed literacy profile will provide researchers and practitioners with an improved understanding of the unique literacy abilities of students with IDD and a framework for developing targeted literacy interventions.

Academic Intervention & Learning
